Fantasy football projections, Week 17: Chiefs vs. Chargers featuring Jamaal Charles, Keenan Allen and Philip Rivers

The Week 17 matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Diego Chargers is a high-stakes game for San Diego, while Kansas City is locked into its playoff spot. We've got all the fantasy projections for you courtesy of numberFire.

The Chiefs have very little to play for going into the last week of the regular season and coach Andy Reid is known for resting his starters. That means there will likely be very little of Jamaal Charles on Sunday. Knile Davis will probably play in his place. This season, Davis has 161 yards rushing, 296 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Having little to play for is also bad news for fantasy owners of quarterback Alex Smith. Smith didn't do much in a home loss to the Colts last week. Prior to that, he had been playing very well for over a month. He'll hardly play if at all against the Chargers, meaning Chase Daniel could get the start for the Chiefs.

With a lot of Chiefs regulars expected to rest this week, quarterback Philip Rivers stands to be a major beneficiary. The Chargers can still make the playoffs, but need a win and some help. Rivers should be throwing at a steady pace and his fantasy numbers will reflect that.

As Rivers goes, so goes his best receiver Keenan Allen. Allen only has eight catches and 113 receiving yards in the last three weeks combined. The good news for his fantasy owners is that five of his catches have come in the end zone. He's not a prototypical red zone target by any means, but clearly Rivers likes to look for him. Allen should be in your starting lineup this week.
