Ellington is dealing with a knee injury sustained in practice following the team's Week 12 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. The Cardinals have been very careful with Ellington thus far. While he was initially kept on the sidelines due to the fact that he's a rookie, he worked his way into the lineup when Rashard Mendenhall made it clear that his best days were behind him. Still, the Cardinals have yet to give Ellington more than 15 carries in a game.
That could mean that the team holds him out on Sunday, to further prevent him from sustaining injury.
Fantasy Impact: Ellington has impressed this season, with 73 carries for 441 yards and two touchdowns, on top of 28 receptions for 247 yards and a touchdown. He’s clearly going to be the future at the running back position for the Cardinals, but the team doesn’t want to cause him significant injury in his first season. If he plays, it’s likely he’ll take on an even more reduced load.
