Patriots running back Shane Vereen caught two balls for 18 yards and a TD, while adding three carries for 12 yards during Friday's preseason victory over the Eagles. On his touchdown, he was split out wide and beat a linebacker on a corner route for a highlight-worthy score.
Shane Vereen’s fantasy hype continues on Friday night
Shane Vereen showed why he’s one of the most talked about players in fantasy football on Friday in a preseason game against the Eagles. We break down the fantasy implications.

Vereen continues his heralded August with team reporters buzzing about how New England is going to use the third-year back. His pass-catching skills were a bit under the radar last year with just eight catches, but he made the most of the them with a yard-per-catch average of 18.6 for 149 yards.
Fantasy impact: If you’ve been under a rock the past couple weeks -- or you have a life outside of football -- Vereen has been climbing up fantasy draft boards. In camp, the team has been lining him up all over the field and drawing up numerous plays with him as the first read. Friday’s score was a prime example of what the Pats want to do. The ability to match up the speedy Vereen on a linebacker is a mismatch the Patriots are striving for. The team has lost a lot of weapons this offseason and they’re going to have to replace them. Vereen will be one of those guys and should be a mid-level RB2 in PPR leagues and an elite flex in standards.
