The Miami Dolphins aren't ready to give up on running back Daniel Thomas despite a slow start to the preseason. Thomas rushed four times for 19 yards in Miami's Friday preseason game, while Jonas Gray had 32 yards on 14 carries and rookie Mike Gillislee got 37 on 12 carries.
Miami Dolphins ‘much higher’ on Daniel Thomas than fantasy owners should be
The Dolphins still like Daniel Thomas as the No. 2 back despite unimpressive numbers in his first two years. Fantasy owners should be wary of Miami’s backfield depth.

Despite the low numbers, the Miami Herald says that Dolphins officials are “much higher on Thomas’ potential than some fans are.” Thomas rushed for 325 yards and four touchdowns last season while missing time with a concussion.
Fantasy impact: Lamar Miller is locked in as the starter, so the real question is who his handcuff will be. Thomas hasn't shown much in his first two years in the league, but the Dolphins brass apparently still believes in him.
Whether he wins the No. 2 job or not, Thomas isn’t worth a draft pick in most league formats. Fantasy owners should look elsewhere for RB depth.
