Ryan Williams guaranteed that he would play in the Cardinals' preseason matchup versus the Cowboys on Aug. 17. However, head coach Bruce Arians indicates otherwise according to AZ Central's Kent Somers.
Ryan Williams status uncertain for Cardinals second preseason game
Despite Ryan WIlliams guaranteeing he would play in the Cardinals second preseason game, head coach Bruce Arians says he doesn’t know if Williams will suit up. We break down the fantasy implications.

During a press conference, Arians said “I don’t know if he’ll play this week,” which is in stark contrast to Williams’ proclamation from earlier. Williams is still dealing with lingering effects of a ruptured patellar tendon sustained in 2011, and was on crutches as recently as Aug. 3.
Fantasy Spin: Unlike the past two seasons, Williams' roster hopes appear to be directly correlated to how much he is able to see the field. The Cardinals made it a priority to obtain running backs this offseason, drafting Stepfan Taylor and Andre Ellington and also signing Rashard Mendenhall. It's fair to question whether Williams will ever be healthy, or if he can ever be at a point where he can play pain-free. What was once an exciting talent coming out of the 2011 draft now appears to be in danger of losing out on a professional career before it ever began.
