Geno Smith has ‘brutal’ practice and could miss preseason game; huge fantasy red flag
New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith had a “brutal” practice and could miss the team’s second preseason game. We break down the fantasy implications.

The ankle injury that Smith sustained in the first preseason game is definitely a contributor to his poor play, but it's still a worrying sight. Smith is currently locked in a quarterback battle with Mark Sanchez, who played well in the first preseason game and is in line to start the second one.
Ryan also said that it "could be a possibility" that Smith doesn't play in Saturday's preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It's unclear if that would be due to his poor level of play or due to the fact that his ankle is still bothering him.
Fantasy Impact: Smith was never considered a top option for anybody’s fantasy team, but this is even more of an indication that he shouldn’t even be close to be considered. That’s due to the fact that it Sanchez is starting another preseason game and seems likely to win the starting job, at least to start the season. Whether or not he hangs on to it is anybody’s guess.
