Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Donnie Avery is currently expected to earn the No. 2 receiver position, according to ESPN's Bill Williamson. The Chiefs signed Avery to a three-year deal in the offseason, and he started behind Jon Baldwin on the depth chart after missing OTAs with an ankle injury. He has moved up the depth chart, though, due to Baldwin's struggles in training camp.

Avery recorded 60 receptions for 781 yards and three touchdowns with the Indianapolis Colts last season.
Fantasy impact: This is more of an indictment of Baldwin, a 2011 first-round pick, than it is an appraisal of Avery, a 29-year-old on his third team in as many years. Despite setting career highs in catches and yards in 2012, Avery still struggled with drops and has a long injury history.
The Chiefs figure to pass more in Andy Reid’s new system, but for now Bowe remains the only reliable fantasy option at WR. The other players have too many red flags to risk a draft pick on.
