Mark Sanchez is expected to be the starter for the Jets in their Week 1 game vs. the Buccaneers. Geno Smith has dealt with an ankle sprain and head coach Rex Ryan even called Smith "brutal" in practice on Wednesday.
Mark Sanchez expected to start Week 1, Geno Smith’s fantasy value still floundering
Mark Sanchez isn’t a guy you’ll want as your fantasy starting quarterback, but the Jets seem like they’ll be ready to put him under center Week 1 vs. the Bucs. We break down the fantasy implications.

Sanchez hasn't exactly endeared himself to the Jets fans these days, leading the NFL in turnovers last season. His numbers severely regressed in his fourth season with his yards, passer rating, completion percentage, yards per attempt and total QBR taking a hit from his 2011 campaign. His touchdowns were cut in half, dropping from 26 to 13 while his interceptions remained the same.
Fantasy impact: As far as Sanchez goes, he's basically a lame duck. The Jets changed general managers and the feeling around the team is that GM John Idzik is just waiting for the right time to give Geno a shot. Of course, Geno would have to earn it and he's failed to do so. There really isn't much to like about Jets offense outside of Chris Ivory. Santonio Holmes is still hurt, Stephen Hill can't get open or catch balls and Jeremy Kerley lacks the size of an NFL receiver. Quite frankly, the only Jet even worth drafting in standard leagues is Ivory, which is surprising since the Jets O line isn't too bad with two Pro Bowl players in D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold.
