Shane Vereen was a dual threat in Friday's preseason game against the Buccaneers, rushing for 29 yards on four carries to go with four catches for 46 yards on six targets during a 25-21 victory.
Shane Vereen looking like a Darren Sproles-like back, PPR fantasy value surging
Shane Vereen is going nuts in the preseason as a receiver. We break down the fantasy implications.

He caught a TD in Week 1 of the preseason and the Patriots continue to line him up at at running back, in the slot and on the outside. Vereen has done the same thing in practice during the entire training camp and this is obviously not a smoke-and-mirror approach for the team.
Fantasy impact: The days of being able to sneak Vereen in the later rounds of PPR drafts are about as expired as a carton of milk from last year. The Patriots have always been creative in coming up with solutions to their personnel problems and Vereen is a large part of the answer this time around.
Fantasy owners can view him as a RB2 in PPR leagues and it’s not a stretch to think that he can reel in 65-plus balls and he’s more of a flex in standards. Although, he does have an injury history, so he’s far from a lock to play in 16 games.
