Tavon Austin catches his first preseason passes versus Packers
The Rams’ first pick of the 2013 NFL draft was much more active in the passing game and special teams than in his preseason debut. We break down the fantasy implications.

As expected, Austin only took snaps from the slot in his limited action and missed out on a would-be touchdown when Sam Bradford overthrew him at the goal line. On the night, Austin was targeted seven times and also fielded a punt return for no yards.
Fantasy Spin: It’s obvious the Rams want to assess what kind of immediate return they can expect from their first-round pick, and Austin saw many more opportunities to showcase what he can do than in his preseason debut. If he is ultimately called upon to fill Danny Amendola’s vacated role, Austin’s value in PPR leagues will get an immediate boost just from the volume of targets. But with the emergence of Chris Givens alongside him in the offense, Austin may still have a way to go before he can be the “go-to” guy for Bradford. Austin remains a high-ceiling player, but expectations should be tempered in the earlygoings of his career.
