The St. Louis Rams have officially named running back Daryl Richardson their regular season starter, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Disptach. Richardson won the job over Isaiah Pead.
Daryl Richardson named Week 1 starter, solidifying fantasy value
The Rams have named Daryl Richardson their opening day starter with two preseason games to go. We break down the fantasy implications.

Richardson got just one touch in the Rams’ second preseason game Saturday, a reception for 24 yards. He recorded 24 rushing yards on four carries in last week’s preseason opener. Richardson rushed for 475 yards on 98 carries in his rookie year in 2012, good for 4.8 yards per carry.
Fantasy impact: This news doesn’t come as a big surprise, but if you were deciding which Rams running back to draft this year, there’s your answer. Pead may have more natural talent, but his ball security issues won’t make him anything more than a late-round handcuff pick.
Pead is worth a deep roster stash in Dynasty leagues, but Richardson is the guy you want to target for single-season fantasy leagues.
