Jonathan Stewart is looking more and more likely to miss regular season action due to injuries in both of his ankles.
“Not realistic” for Jonathan Stewart to be ready for Panthers season opener
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart is looking more likely to miss time. We break down the fantasy implications.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Thursday that while the Panthers have not given up hope that Stewart will be ready for Week 1, he added that it is “not realistic” to expect Stewart back so soon. Stewart is yet to see any preseason action, and has remained on the team’s active/PUP list since July 25.
Fantasy Spin: This certainly isn't encouraging news for deep-league fantasy owners, although it will shed some light on what's usually a murky Carolina backfield. DeAngelo Williams is in line to receive the bulk of the carries with rookie Kenjon Barner likely to fulfill a change-of-pace role. As of now, Williams is slated as an eighth-round pick in standard leagues, and would be a steal at that position if he receives the Panthers' workload for an extended period of time. On the flipside, Stewart is nothing more than a late-round flier given the current state of things.
