The Boston Globe believes that Daniel Fells is leading the way as the top tight end for the Patriots while Rob Gronkowski is on the PUP list.
Daniel Fells leading the way as Patriots top tight end, but does it matter for fantasy?
Daniel Fells is out in front to be the Patriots’ top tight end. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fells was basically a ghost last year for the Patriots, catching four balls for 85 yards and no touchdowns. The Patriots are already without Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski could also miss time.
Fantasy impact: While being the top tight end in the New England offense has been one of the most productive spots in all of football, it's hard to even bat an eye to this news. Fells just doesn't have talent left at age 29 and the Patriots aren't going to feature him in their offense like they've done with Gronk and Hernandez. Obviously, that raises a fundamental question: who benefits from the lack of tight end depth? Well, it would appear to be Shane Vereen. He's lining up all over the field and is one of the fastest risers in fantasy leagues, especially in PPR formats.
