The Green Bay Packers are hoping they can open the season with wide receiver Jordy Nelson on the field. Nelson has been ruled out for the rest of training camp after having surgery on his knee. Coach Mike McCarthy said on Tuesday (via The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) that the team wants Nelson to be ready to open the season against the San Francisco 49ers.
Packers, fantasy owners hopeful Jordy Nelson can play Week 1
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson (knee) is out for the rest of training camp but the Packers are still hopeful he can play in Week 1. We break down the fantasy implications.

Nelson missed some time last season with a number of nagging injuries. He ended 2012 with 49 catches, 745 yards and seven touchdowns.
Fantasy Impact: Nelson’s health is something fantasy owners will need to monitor ahead of their drafts. He can big a big-play receiver and is still likely worth a pick as a No. 2/3 fantasy wide receiver.
Nelson plays in the right offense and with the right quarterback to be very productive if he can stay on the field with any regularity for Green Bay.
