San Francisco 49ers wide receiver A.J. Jenkins struggled in the preseason opener against the Denver Broncos. The second-year receiver played in 39 of the team's 61 offensive snaps, but was targeted only three times. On his lone reception of the night, he promptly fumbled the ball away to the Broncos.
A.J. Jenkins continues fantasy irrelevance after poor preseason game
A.J. Jenkins was less than impressive in his first preseason game, and he remains well off the fantasy radar for the foreseeable future.

After the game, head coach Jim Harbaugh was blunt about Jenkins’ night, saying he “could have been better.“
Fantasy impact: Even with the 49ers thin at wideout, Jenkins isn't doing anything to prove he earns a bigger role in the offense. Complicating matters is the signing of Austin Collie, who had a solid preseason debut and could lock down a starting job alongside Anquan Boldin.
Jenkins, a first-round pick from 2012, didn’t record a single reception in his rookie year. If he doesn’t show any improvement in the final three preseason games, 2013 may be another lost year for him. Fantasy drafters should stay far away.
