Arian Foster, Ben Tate to split carries and fantasy value
Texans’ head coach Gary Kubiak says he’d feel more comfortable if Ben Tate and Arian Foster shared carries more closely moving forward. We discuss the fantasy implications.

In Week 1 against the San Diego Chargers, Foster managed just 57 yards on 18 carries, while Tate posted an impressive 55 yards on just nine carries. That's a per-carry average of 3.2 yards for Foster and a 6.1 average for Tate.
The Texans open their home season this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, who gave up just 32 rushing yards to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1, albeit to an inferior running game.
Fantasy Impact: Fantasy owners everywhere who have been drafting Tate as the handcuff and eventual successor to Foster may finally see this as the year they start to cash in on their investment. Though in almost any format a workhorse back is more desirable, the Texans have the personnel surrounding their running backs to make a 50/50 split in touches work well.
All that said, Arian Foster owners may want to consider acquiring Tate or at the very least, monitor the Texans’ backfield situation closely in the coming weeks.
