Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley was practicing in full pads Thursday, said ESPN NFL Nation reporter Rob Demovsky, a day after missing practice with a toe injury. Finley was limited in practice, but the news was still good for Green Bay.
Finley suffered the injury Sunday when San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis came down on his foot. Finley flew to Minnesota earlier in the week for treatment, and he originally wasn't expected to participate Thursday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Fantasy impact: Finley caught five passes for 56 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the 49ers, though he did have a drop that led to an interception. All those things are pretty typical for Finley.
With Finley originally expected out for Thursday’s practice and moving up to being at least a partial participant, the news is good so far, though it remains to be seen how much he’ll be able to do come game day.
If Finley were to miss, or be severely limited in, Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins, the team would likely use Andrew Quarless at tight end. That would mean more attention for the team's wide receivers: Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and James Jones.
