The Patriots’ ground game was about as stagnant as their passing attack in Week 2 against the Jets. Stevan Ridley took on the featured role in the backfield, but only managed to rush for 40 yards on 16 carries Thursday night.
Stevan Ridley struggles against Jets, fantasy value falling
Shane Vereen’s injury put Stevan Ridley in a clear featured role, but he didn’t do much with his carries on Thursday. We break down the fantasy implications.

While Ridley didn’t fumble this time, he did bobble the last carry of the game. He received a pitch from Brady that he nearly lost control of, but fortunately reeled in just in time to avoid another possible turnover.
Fantasy impact: Owners will hope Bill Belichick doesn’t hold that bobble against him. Why throw a pitch to Ridley in the rain? That’s a tough question to answer.
LeGarratte Blount finished with four carries for 11 yards. There’s no competition in the backfield with Shane Vereen out, so Ridley should have a firm lock on the workload for several weeks to come. We’ll see if Branden Bolden ever suits up.
