Indianapolis Colts running back Vick Ballard is out for the season after injuring his knee in practice on Thursday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Ballard's injury is an ACL tear, according to Josh Katzowitz of CBS Sports. Ballard reportedly planted his foot on the ground to make a cut and his knee "simply gave out."
Vick Ballard out for season; Ahmad Bradshaw a desirable fantasy option
Vick Ballard is out for the season for the Indianapolis Colts. We break down the fantasy implications.

Ballard was the starter ahead of free agent signee Ahmad Bradshaw and under-achiever Donald Brown. Ballard rushed for 63 yards on 13 carries in the team's opener, and was expected to get the bulk of the carries going forward.
That said, the team did like Bradshaw, and reports on Thursday suggested that the team was aiming for a 50-50 split of the carries between the two. Of course, that was before Ballard went down with injury.
Fantasy Impact: Obviously, if you had Ballard in your fantasy team and you depended on him in any way, you're out of luck. Ballard looked to be a solid fantasy option this year when Andrew Luck wasn't throwing the football. That said, if Bradshaw is available in your league or you already picked him up as a handcuff to Ballard, you're in good shape. If Bradshaw stays healthy, he should be productive this season.
