Fantasy football projections, Packers vs. Redskins: Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, Robert Griffin and more

We break down the fantasy projections for the Week 2 matchup between the Washington Redskins and Green Bay Packers.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers host the Washington Redskins in a Week 2 matchup that features two teams we did not expect to be on the verge of going 0-2 to start the season. To help you prepare your fantasy football lineup for this week, we present you with the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire.

Washington Redskins

Normally seeing quarterback Robert Griffin III throw for 329 yards and two touchdowns to go with two interceptions would be considered a decent fantasy game. However, his owners should be slightly worried that most of those points came with the Redskins trailing the Philadelphia Eagles by a wide margin in the second half. Griffin only ran the ball once the entire game, which falls well short of his average of eight rushing attempts per contest last year. His performance will definitely be worth monitoring closely this week, particularly if the game is tight.

Other Redskins players to keep your eye on include Leonard Hankerson, who caught five passes for 80 yards and two scores last week. Coach Mike Shanahan commented that the team will look to get him more involved in the offense after a good game against the Eagles. It's also worth looking out for running back Alfred Morris, whom experts say owes a lot of his success to Griffin's ability to run the ball. Morris stands to fall in value the most should Griffin be unable to regain the form he exhibited last year. Morris dropped the ball twice in the Redskins' Week 1 loss and finished with just 45 yards rushing.

Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers finished with 333 yards passing and three touchdowns in Week 1 against he San Francisco 49ers in a game where the Packers had to play from behind most of the way. Rodgers' effort was welcomed by fantasy owners who saw the former Super Bowl MVP struggle at the start of last year as the Packers receiving corps was decimated by injuries.

Teams that start the season with two losses rarely make the playoffs. If the Packers want to avoid this, Rodgers will need to rely on familiar targets Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson to carry the load through the air, particularly with tight end Jermichael Finley (toe) playing hurt. Nelson managed to corral seven catches for 130 yards and a touchdown while Cobb chipped in with seven catches for 108 yards and a touchdown in Week 1.
