Aaron Rodgers rewards fantasy owners with huge game

Rodgers bounced back from a cool Week 1 by throwing for 335 yards in just a half of play Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Editor’s note: Rodgers finished the game with a career high, and team-record-tying 480 passing yards, to go with four touchdown passes, as the Packers ended up winning 38-20. Huge day for Rodgers and his owners.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers came out on fire Sunday, completing 26 of his 31 first-half passes for 335 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. The Packers lead the Washington Redskins, 24-0, at halftime.

Rodgers narrowly missed a fourth touchdown near the end of the half when wide receiver James Jones fumbled the ball while reaching for the end-zone pylon, resulting in a touchback.

His three touchdown passes went to three different receives, with Randall Cobb, Jermichael Finley, and Jordy Nelson each hauling one in. Jones has had a big half as well, with nine receptions for 152 yards.

Fantasy impact: Rodgers had a somewhat disappointing Week 1, passing for 333 yards as the team lost to the San Francisco 49ers. He eclipsed that game total in just one half of play Sunday, also equaling his touchdown total and throwing no interceptions.

Rodgers’ value Sunday has been helped by facing a porous Washington defense, as Green Bay has moved the ball down the field seemingly at will. He also seemed intent on targeting Jones, who was left without any receptions a week ago.

Either way, Rodgers was the first quarterback off the board in the vast majority of leagues, and games like this are the reason why. His value is just as high as ever.
