San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore is off to a poor start this season. On Sunday, he carried the ball nine times for just 16 yards with no touchdowns in a losing effort to the Seattle Seahawks. He took most of his carries in the first half, and wasn't relevant in the second half.
Frank Gore struggles, puts up another poor fantasy performance
San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore struggled for the second-straight week. We break down the fantasy implications.

The 49ers have considered themselves a run-first team, but Gore couldn’t contend with the Seahawks, and his carries dropped off. Seattle has the best secondary in the NFL, so they were confident in stacking the box, and the 49ers refused to adapt by running the ball up the middle consistently.
Gore now has just 60 yards over the first two games of the regular season. He's well below his expectations for the season, to be sure. San Francisco is now 1-1, heading into a Week 3 game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Fantasy Impact: Gore is one of the higher-drafted running backs, but he’s getting up there in years. Each year, he becomes a bigger wildcard given his age, the wear and tear on his body and the fact that the 49ers have some young, up-and-coming running backs on the roster. Regardless of his red flags, he was expected to do much better than this thus far. He’ll have a solid opportunity to bounce back against the Colts in Week 3, however.
