Rob Gronkowski says recovery progressing ‘big time’; fantasy status still unclear
Rob Gronkowski says his recovery progressed “big time” since last week. We break down the fantasy implications.

Gronkowski is still recovering from back surgery he underwent this offseason. He also had multiple surgeries on his arm this offseason, but that is healed up to this point. New England left him off of injured reserve and the physically unable to perform list, so they obviously are hoping to get him back at some point prior to Week 6.
It’s anybody’s guess as to whether or not he can return for Week 3. The Patriots certainly aren’t going to tip their hands by any means, but it’s getting more and more likely he’ll make his return soon ... or at least it seems that way.
Fantasy Impact: Despite his injuries, Gronkowski was one of the higher-drafted tight ends in fantasy football. Outside of Jimmy Graham, Gronkowski was still second off the board in most cases, despite the virtual guarantee that he would miss multiple games. We're now heading into the third week of potentially-missed games. Wait to make your decision on him this week until we get more information, such as the Friday injury report.
