San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis will be inactive for the team's Week 3 game against the Indianapolis Colts Sunday afternoon, according to the team's game-day inactives report.
Davis injured his hamstring during the team's game last Sunday, a loss against the Seattle Seahawks. After missing practice all week, Davis was still considered questionable entering Sunday, but was finally named inactive.
Davis has 118 yards on nine receptions with two touchdowns so far this season.
Fantasy impact: The 49ers already have a thin receiving corps, with Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham and others yet to play this year, and this only hurts that more. Expect quarterback Colin Kaepernick to lean on receiver Anquan Boldin more than normal in this game, as Boldin is far and away the team's most experienced pass-catcher with Davis out. Boldin should see increased value Sunday.
For owners who have lost Davis, there might be a scramble for replacement options. Charles Clay (for Miami), Kellen Winslow (for the Jets), and Heath Miller (for Pittsburgh) are the best options that might be available in many leagues. Hopefully, owners anticipated this potential absence and have a backup plan in place.
