Fantasy football waiver wire advice: 5 WRs to target for Week 4

The bye weeks are here, which means that there should be plenty of action on the waiver wires. Here are five wide receivers worth picking up.

Wesley Hitt

As if the early wave of injuries wasn’t enough of a headache for fantasy owners, we’re now entering the bye week season. This is a good time to start perusing the waiver wire for plug-and-play options. These players probably won’t help you win your matchups on their own, but they can help ease the pain a bit while you’re forced to sit your studs.

Here are five wide receivers you should look at, and they’re all owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues.

Marlon Brown, Baltimore Ravens (owned in 33 percent of leagues)

Jacoby Jones is still out with an MCL sprain, so Brown should continue starting opposite Torrey Smith. He saw just three targets in Week 3, but should have better games ahead. The Ravens face the Bills, Dolphins and Packers in the next three weeks. Brown projects as a WR4 until Jones comes back.

Justin Blackmon, Jacksonville Jaguars (owned in 40 percent of leagues)

Blackmon has one more game left on his suspension and should step back into a starting role in Week 5. His presence will be a much-needed boost to a Jaguars offense desperate for playmakers. The quarterback remains a complete mess, though, so expectations should be held in check.

Ryan Broyles, Detroit Lions (owned in 21 percent of leagues)

Broyles is still getting eased into the lineup after ACL surgery, but he should have an expanded role in Detroit's offense soon enough. He had three catches for 34 yards in his season debut on Sunday, and could soon overtake Patrick Edwards as the No. 3 receiver. He might have more value in PPR leagues than standard formats.

Kendall Wright, Tennessee Titans (owned in 20 percent of leagues)

Kenny Britt has been an unmitigated disaster in his contract year, leaving it up to Wright and Nate Washington to pick up the slack. Wright responded with 71 yards on six catches in the win over the Chargers, putting him on the WR3 radar. Washington exploded for 131 yards, but he's too inconsistent to trust week-to-week. Keep a close eye on rookie Justin Hunter. He scored the game-winning touchdown on his first NFL catch and could see more snaps if Britt continues to dog it.

Rod Streater, Oakland Raiders (owned in 9 percent of leagues)

The Raiders offense is never going to have much fantasy appeal, but Streater is clearly the No. 1 option over Denarius Moore and appears to have Terrelle Pryor's trust. The team will be playing from behind a lot this year, opening up more chances for Streater. He has an appealing matchup against the Redskins defense in Week 4.
