Fantasy Football start/sit advice, TNF: Frank Gore

Few running backs have been as disappointing as the San Francisco 49ers' Frank Gore through three weeks this season. Gore, active in all three games, has 41 carries for 142 yards and five receptions for another 56 yards with one score total.

Gore had his best rushing game Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, going for 82 yards on 11 carries. Even those numbers only brought his season yards-per-carry average to 3.5. His lone score on the season came on a one-yard run in the fourth quarter of Week 1 to put the 49ers ahead.

Fantasy impact: Gore was the 12^th running back off the board in most fantasy drafts, between Matt Forte and Stevan Ridley, and has failed to return that value through three low-production games. His lack of numbers can't be entirely blamed on quarterback Colin Kaepernick, as the second-year starter has 129 rushing yards, not a number that accounts for Gore's low total.

The lone time the Rams have faced an upper-tier running back who stayed healthy came last week, against Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray, and Murray had a huge game, rushing 26 times for 175 yards and a touchdown. With the 49ers' offense struggling -- tight end Vernon Davis is questionable and few passing options are wide receiver Anquan Boldin -- it seems likely they'll try hard to get Gore going in this game.
