Terrelle Pryor cleared to practice; fantasy value could be high

After a Week 3 concussion, there was some question about Pryor’s availability Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor was cleared to resume practice Thursday, and he was a limited participant in the team's session, according to Scott Bair of CSNCalifornia.com

Pryor suffered a concussion late in the Raiders' Monday night loss to the Denver Broncos, and there was some question as to his availability for Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins. Pryor has completed 53 of his 81 passes so far this season for 624 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. On the ground, he has rushed the ball 26 times for 198 yards, including a 112-yard outing in Week 1 that was the league's second-highest rushing total that week.

Fantasy impact: Pryor only participated in side work at practice without a helmet, so he’s not all the way ready to play, but he’s obviously moving forward, and it’s starting to look like he might be available to play Sunday. With the Raiders taking on the woeful defense of the Redskins, a healthy and active Pryor could see enormous fantasy production. With Aaron Rodgers and Cam Newton both on byes, Pryor deserves a look as a QB1 if he goes.

On the flip side of that particular coin, the Raiders-Redskins game is a 4:25 p.m. ET game Sunday. If Pryor is listed as a game-time decision, many viable quarterbacks will have gone by the time fantasy owners know for sure. Pryor is worth starting, but players should be ready with a Geno Smith or a Philip Rivers or a Ryan Tannehill as a backup choice.
