Bell's injury was a Lisfranc sprain, which is something the team certainly doesn't want to aggravate. It's unclear if he'll come back and get a good amount of touches or if he'll mostly just be active with five to 10 carries in the game. Felix Jones and Jonathan Dwyer should still get plenty of playing time, regardless.
Prior to Bell’s injury, he was named the starter for the Steelers. They were in full-on transition mode and ready to give the rookie his chance. Coming off this injury, it’s unlikely he’ll be ready to assume that role out of the gate, but he’s been a full participant in practice of late and has that going for him.
Fantasy Impact: The Steelers have had a so-so rushing game this year. We’ve called Bell a definite boom-or-bust candidate before, and it’s definitely true. Nobody knows exactly how he’ll look in the NFL just yet, but it’s been advised that fantasy owners hold on to him throughout his injury. As to whether or not he should be started this week ... that’s a judgment call depending on who else is on your fantasy team. There’s not a whole lot of confidence that he’ll carry a full load this week.
