Atlanta Falcons running back Steven Jackson (hamstring) is expected to be out two to three more weeks, according to a report by ESPN’s Vaughn McClure. The original timeline for Jackson’s return was two to four weeks; now it looks like he’ll be out closer to six or seven weeks.
Steven Jackson to be out longer than expected, fantasy owners look elsewhere
Falcons running back Steven Jackson let fans know he’ll be out longer. We discuss the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: Considering he was hurt early in the Falcons’ Week 2 game against the St. Louis Rams, Jackson has respectable numbers this season. He’s posted 77 yards on 14 carries to go with six receptions for 53 yards.
Despite the fact he has been labeled as injury prone throughout his career, Jackson had only missed one game in the last three years prior to this season. He does have a penchant for playing through quadriceps and hamstring injuries, but it seems he can’t do it this time around.
In his absence Jason Snelling and Jacquizz Rodgers have filled in nicely, splitting the workload pretty evenly on the ground, with Snelling getting a few more targets than Rodgers in the passing game.
Fantasy owners who are holding onto Jackson will have to roll with whatever reinforcements they had stashed away on their bench. If you happen to have Snelling or Rodgers, keep in mind the Patriots boast a top-10 fantasy run defense.
