Fantasy football projections: Colts vs. Jaguars features Andrew Luck, Trent Richardson and Cecil Shorts

We break down the Week 4 matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Week 4 matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars could possibly result in another blowout that has fantasy owners of Colts players laughing their way to a win. We have all the fantasy projections for you courtesy of numberFire.

Indianapolis Colts

Fantasy owners who drafted Andrew Luck thinking that he would be the top gunslinger in the game based on a high volume of pass attempts this season have to be somewhat disappointed, as the Colts have moved towards becoming a run-first team. Going into Week 4, Luck ranks 25th in the league in pass attempts among starting quarterbacks. The midseason acquisition of running back Trent Richardson gives the Colts another potent rusher capable of carrying the load with Ahmad Bradshaw.

Many feel that the upcoming game against the Jaguars will represent Richardson’s transition into the number one role in the backfield for the Colts. He rushed 13 times in his first appearance with the team in Week 3 and finished with 37 yards and a touchdown. With the Jaguars being regarded as the league’s worst team, Richardson could find himself racking up the fantasy points once the score gets out of reach.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Quarterback Blaine Gabbert is expected to regain his role as the team's starter after missing the last two games with a hand injury. In Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs, Gabbert averaged just 3.5 yards per attempt. With the way the Jaguars offensive line has been performing, there is no doubt that the Jaguars will rely on Maurice Jones-Drew to try and move the ball down the field. There's also no doubt it'll be difficult to do that should they fall behind early.

Gabbert's return will put the heat squarely on the shoulders of the team's top wide receiver, Cecil Shorts, who caught just three passes on 11 targets from Gabbert in Week 1. Though Shorts has been the team's best fantasy player this season, he'll undoubtedly welcome the return of teammate Justin Blackmon, who will be eligible to return in Week 5 after serving a four-game suspension to start the year.
