Saints running back Darren Sproles put up a huge first half against the Dolphins on Monday night.
Darren Sproles explodes for over 100 total yards and 2 touchdowns in first half for his fantasy owners
The Saints’ top running back put on a show in primetime on Monday night, leading the team in receptions, yards and touchdowns after one half of play. We break down the fantasy implications.

The speedy scatback carved up the Dolphins secondary and linebackers, catching seven passes for 114 yards and totaling two touchdowns both through the air and on the ground. Sproles currently leads the Saints receivers in catches and yards while focus is being placed on Marques Colston and Jimmy Graham out of the gate, although Graham managed to reel in a 27-yard touchdown despite having double coverage.
Ninety-five of Sproles’ 114 receiving yards have come after the catch, and he is now 14 yards shy of his career high of 128 receiving yards.
Fantasy Spin: That’s a quick 30 points in PPR leagues for Sproles, who continues to cement his RB2 status with RB1 upside in those formats. Sproles has routinely gashed opposing defenses throughout his career, and Monday night’s effort proved no different. He started off the night with a 48-yard catch and run on the first pass of the game and eventually ran for a 5-yard score and caught a 13-yard touchdown pass late in the half.
This performance will add on to already impressive numbers, as Sproles entered the game with 20 targets in his first three games, and with the low risk and huge payoff he presents each target, it’s not hard to see why he commands that kind of attention. His owners in PPR leagues can start him with confidence each week.
