New York Jets wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is not on the team's first injury report, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. It's primarily just a participation report prior to Wednesday's practice, but it's a great sign given Nicks' recent history.
Hakeen Nicks not on Giants’ injury report; good sign for fantasy owners
New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is not on the New York Giants’ injury report. We break down the fantasy implications.

What really matters is the actual injury reports as New York's regular season opener approaches, but given that Nicks entered last season with injuries and found himself unhealthy for much of the season, it's a big deal. Nicks is Eli Manning's top target and is in a contract year. The team recently signed Victor Cruz, a slot receiver, to a big-time contract extension.
Nicks has to show the Giants he can stay healthy and be their No. 1 receiver. He’s certainly played like it in the past, with 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns in 2011 and 1,052 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2010. But last season he managed just 692 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games.
Fantasy Impact: Nicks is New York's top receiver, though Cruz will be fighting for targets. It's Nicks who should win out in that battle, however. If you have an opportunity to draft him, this seems like a safe bet and the best time to add him to your team. If he can remain healthy, smart money is on another 1,000-yard season and many touchdowns as New York battles the Washington Redskins for the NFC East.
