Peyton Manning has a new favorite target in Denver. Wes Welker caught a team-high nine passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns in Thursday night’s win against the Ravens.
Wes Welker has strong fantasy showing in first start
Wes Welker doesn’t have Tom Brady throwing him the ball anymore, but that doesn’t appear like it will make a difference. We break down the fantasy implications.

Welker was targeted 11 times in his first start with the Broncos, tying Demaryius Thomas for most looks from Manning. Both receivers stay involved around the goal line as well.
Fantasy impact: Welker’s departure from New England was expected to take a toll on his value, but Manning kept his new receiver in his sights throughout the regular season opener. The first touchdown was created by a nice change of direction from Welker, and the second was a simply blown coverage after Thomas took two receivers with him at the goal line.
Expect both receivers to remain heavily involved in the offense going forward. Eric Decker saw seven targets and struggled to haul in a few passes. His stock is falling after Week 1.
