New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski practiced for the fifth straight day on Friday. Normally this means a player will be ready to suit up for Sunday, but the Boston Herald still doesn't expect Gronkowski to play in the regular season opener against the Buffalo Bills.
Rob Gronkowski still practicing but not expected to be fantasy factor in Week 1
Rob Gronkowski practiced for the fifth time this week, but he’s still not expected to play in Week 1. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Herald also says that a Week 2 return “remains in play,” but that’s also unlikely given that it’s a Thursday night game on a short week. Week 3 or 4 remain the most likely timetable.
Fantasy impact: The news on Gronk's recovery has been increasingly positive. He avoided the regular season PUP list and has been able to practice. However, fantasy owners will have to continue being patient with him. There's a good chance he'll be back by the end of September. In the meantime, rookie Zach Sudfeld is expected to start and is a decent sleeper candidate against a shaky Bills defense.
