Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw is active for the team's season opener versus the Raiders.
Ahmad Bradshaw active vs. Raiders, fantasy value remains murky
Ahmad Bradshaw will suit-up in a game day uniform for the first time while with the Indianapolis Colts. We break down the fantasy implications.

Bradshaw practiced fully with the team this week, so being listed as active does not come as a surprise. But a few weeks ago, not many would have banked on this decision after Bradshaw did not appear in a preseason game and did not practice in full pads until Aug. 21. The veteran running back is recovering from two procedures on his foot this offseason, but appears to be “all systems go.”
Fantasy Spin: Though Bradshaw is getting the nod, it's still a precarious backfield situation in Indianapolis. Second-year bruiser Vick Ballard has received plenty of work with the first-team offense this week, and that could indicate the Colts' may be preparing for a timeshare. Bradshaw, when healthy, remains one of the top pass-blocking running backs in the game, so it's possible that Ballard's role will be limited to early-down work while Bradshaw handles duties in the passing game and third downs.
But due to the unpredictability of how the touches will be distributed, Bradshaw’s value this week remains as a flex with RB2 upside in PPR leagues. Fantasy owners in standard-scoring leagues would be better-suited to find other options.
