Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will meet with Dr. James Andrews this week to get a second opinion on his shoulder injury.
Mark Sanchez will meet with Dr. Andrews about shoulder injury, any fantasy value essentially gone
The Jets will be without Mark Sanchez for Week One, and it looks as though they will have to brace for an even longer absence. We break down the fantasy implications.

Sanchez is inactive for the team's Week One matchup versus the Buccaneers, but reports on Sunday indicate that he could be out much longer. ESPN's Chris Mortensen tweeted that doctors fear that Sanchez may have a torn labrum, which would almost certainly sideline him for the duration of the season. However, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Jets believe it is a separated shoulder.
Fantasy Spin: Either way, this is not encouraging news for Sanchez's future with the team, and rookie quarterback Geno Smith now has a bigger chance than ever to stake his claim on the Jets' starting quarterback job.
With the depth at quarterback this year across the fantasy spectrum, Sanchez is nowhere close to being picked up by the fantasy football radar. However, due mostly to his dual-threat nature, Smith has some upside in deeper leagues. The Jets receiving corps is a toxic situation as well, and even though Sanchez has struggled mightily over the years, their fantasy value doesn’t improve because of his absence.
