DeAngelo Williams rushes for 76 yards as Panthers feature back, short-term fantasy value remains
DeAngelo Williams totaled 90 yards and lost a fumble in the Panthers’ season opener versus the Seahawks. We break down the fantasy implications.

Williams also tallied three catches for 14 yards to minimally boost his PPR value, but a fourth-quarter fumble inside the Seahawks’ 10-yard line ultimately doomed his chances of having a breakout game. Otherwise, Williams carried the ball well and routinely found holes in what is usually a sturdy Seahawks run defense.
Fantasy spin: It's a rare occurrence for the Panthers' backfield to have a true feature back, and that's how Williams was treated with Jonathan Stewart sidelined with ankle injuries. Because Stewart is on the team's physically unable to perform list, he will not be back until Week 6 at the earliest, leaving Williams to have plenty of short-term fantasy value. That will continue next week when the Panthers play the Bills, and if Williams builds on an encouraging season opener, he should be a solid RB2 option.
