Geno Smith pleasantly surprises his (few) fantasy owners
Smith threw for 256 yards Sunday and added 47 rushing yards as he led the Jets to a win. We break down the fantasy implications.

Smith was 24-for-38 passing, also throwing one interception. The team's lone touchdown was a 7-yard pass from Smith to Kellen Winslow late in the second quarter.
Fantasy impact: Not much was expected of Smith entering this game, considering he looked abysmal in the preseason and won the New York starting job almost by default when Mark Sanchez got injured. By that standard, Smith was fairly impressive, notching an 80.6 passer rating on the day.
Smith set up the team's game-winning field goal with a 10-yard scramble late in the game that drew a 15-yard personal foul penalty. He is available in 96 percent of Yahoo! leagues and while there is some appeal to "a middling quarterback who can scramble a bit," it's hard to see that Smith, even with this victory, has much (if any) more fantasy appeal than E.J. Manuel or Terrelle Pryor. There's probably just as much overrating of Tampa Bay as underrating of Smith and the Jets going into Sunday's outcome.
