Fantasy football projections, Week 7: Chiefs-Chargers featuring Jamaal Charles, Philip Rivers and Branden Oliver
We break down the Week 7 matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers.

Kansas City Chiefs
Coming off a bye week, the Chiefs look to use running back Jamaal Charles to pound the ball on the ground against the division rival Chargers this week. Charles should see a heavy workload now that his ankle injury is fully healed. Add that to the fact that coach Andy Reid said the lack of touches for Charles in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers was a key reason why the team lost, and the Chiefs' star running back should be in for a busy and productive fantasy day in Week 7.
When quarterback Alex Smith does decide to throw the ball, he'll be looking for his young tight end Travis Kelce. Kelce only caught two passes in Week 5, but one of those was a touchdown catch, marking the third straight week that Kelce has found the end zone. He's definitely one of the early surprises of the fantasy football season and he may have to match the Chargers' Antonio Gates to help keep the Chiefs in the game on Sunday.
San Diego Chargers
Now six weeks into the season, quarterback Philip Rivers is still playing like an MVP candidate. He has now thrown three touchdown passes in each of the last three games and is averaging an impressive 292 passing yards on the season. While the Chiefs are pretty good at containing the fantasy numbers quarterbacks are able to register, there's no reason for Rivers' owners to consider any other quarterback this week. That's especially true considering the Chiefs' lack of star power at the cornerback position.
When the Chargers do decide to run the ball, Branden Oliver's going to be the main man in the backfield. He started the season on the team's practice squad, but with injuries to Ryan Mathews (MCL Sprain), Danny Woodhead (knee) and Donald Brown (concussion), Oliver touched the ball 30 times for 124 total yards and a touchdown last week. The effort marked the second straight week that Oliver eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark. He will no doubt be a busy man against the Chiefs, even if his quarterback continues his hot streak.
