Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson will not play against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. He will miss his second game in a row due to an ankle sprain.
Calvin Johnson will not play Sunday; Golden Tate remains a terrific fantasy option
Calvin Johnson is out of the lineup again. We break down the fantasy implications.

According to ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio on NFL Countdown, Johnson worked out for two hours before the game. He did a lot of straight-line running and some agility drills, but there was not much optimism from head coach Jim Caldwell.
With Johnson out of the lineup this week, there is a good chance he could sit out next week in London, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. That would give him four weeks to heal after the Week 9 bye, so hopefully he’ll hit the ground running in Week 10.
Like last week, there will be a lot of Golden Tate in the offense today. The receiver was targeted 12 times last week against the Vikings and he had a full week of practice again to get on the same page with quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Fantasy impact: Johnson’s fantasy owners better have a great backup plan next week, and they’re probably not doing well in the standings with their first-round pick not panning out so far. As for Tate, he should be in every single fantasy lineup in a favorable matchup.
