Bills fantasy football recap: Fred Jackson, C.J. Spiller both get injured in win

Buffalo lost two running backs Sunday, but still managed a last-second touchdown to win. We break down the fantasy implications.

Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills managed a last-second win Sunday, scoring a touchdown with one second left to beat the Minnesota Vikings, 17-16. The Bills trailed three different times in Sunday's game.

The win brings the Bills to 4-3 and second place in the AFC East. They turned the ball over four times in the game, but also had almost 100 more total yards than the Vikings to win despite the turnovers.

Here’s a look at the fantasy names of note:

Kyle Orton: The second starting quarterback for Buffalo has been consistently middle-of-the-road as a starter, with 14, 17 and now 15 fantasy points in his three starts. Orton threw for 283 yards on 31-of-43 passing Sunday. He threw an interception and fumbled once, but Orton also threw for two touchdowns, including that last-second 2-yard pass that gave Buffalo the win. He's a perfectly fine QB2 going forward, assuming the team's running game can figure things out.

C.J. Spiller, Fred Jackson: Neither running back was particularly productive Sunday -- 28 total yards for Jackson, 56 for Spiller -- because both veterans left with injury. Jackson left the game first, carted off with a groin injury. Spiller was next, carted off after his lone carry (for 53 yards) with what is reported to be a broken collarbone. Jackson will likely be out multiple weeks, and if Spiller's initial diagnosis is correct, he'd be out even longer. The Bills leaned heavily on No. 3 running back Anthony Dixon after their top two options went out, but going forward, Bryce Brown -- inactive Sunday -- will be the most interesting Buffalo running back. He's addable in all leagues.

Sammy Watkins: We're still waiting for the rookie to provide consistency, but Sunday was easily the best game of his young career. Watkins caught nine passes (on 14 targets) for 122 yards and two touchdowns Sunday. His second touchdown was that last-second score that gave the Bills the win. Watkins had almost twice as many yards as any other Bill. Watkins obviously must be owned in all leagues, and with such a heavy load of targets. he looks like at least a good flex play going forward.

Scott Chandler: A week after a heavy load of targets led to 105 total yards, Chandler fell back to earth with 36 yards on three catches (six targets). His stock is higher now than it was when EJ Manuel was the Buffalo quarterback, but he's still not someone you want to put out there in fantasy unless you are out of options.
