Denver Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman has been excellent in relief of Montee Ball over the past couple games. Ball injured his groin during a win over the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 5, and Hillman has been counted on to carry the load in his absence. Hillman is doing much more than that at this point, and he might have a shot at retaining the starting job when Ball comes back.
Fantasy football sit/start advice, Week 8: Ronnie Hillman
Ronnie Hillman is running well, and that should continue against the Chargers on Thursday.

Hillman now has exactly as many carries as Ball -- 55 -- but has 240 yards to Ball's 172. He's averaging 4.4 yards per carry, compared to Ball's 3.1 He also has two touchdowns to Ball's one. Hillman has put together three solid games, gaining 64 yards against the Cardinals, 100 yards against the New York Jets and 74 yards and two touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7.
Fantasy Impact: Hillman has been solid, and there's no reason to assume that won't continue. The Broncos are taking on the San Diego Chargers Thursday, and it's a favorable matchup. San Diego allows 4.5 yards per carry to opposing backs, and at this point, Hillman is a no-brainer. Fantasy owners should start him without concern in Week 8.
