San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season. He ranks third in the NFL for passing yards, third in passer rating, first in yards per attempt, and fourth in passing touchdowns.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 8: Philip Rivers
Rivers has thrived at getting the ball down the field. Should you trust him in daily fantasy leagues?

This week, he'll take on the Denver Broncos on the road in a short week with a Thursday night showdown. He's usually a must-start play, but things generally haven't gone well for QBs on the road in the short week. Last week, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith struggled at New England and a handful of others have been sub par. Of course, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was terrific against the Houston Texans in Week 6.
The Broncos have been the 19th-toughest matchup, but have allowed 1.5 passing touchdowns per game in their last four contests. Plus, Rivers will be their toughest test since Andrew Luck in Week 1.
Looking at this from a daily fantasy standpoint, Rivers’ price of $8,900 on Fanduel is the fifth-highest this week. That’s about where he should be based on how he’s fourth in fantasy points per game.
Fantasy impact: The road game and the short week knock Rivers down from being a top-five play this week, so he’s not a great option in Fanduel. Of course, he should be in most lineups as a low-end QB1.
