The San Diego Chargers dropped Thursday night's game, 35-21, to the Denver Broncos, falling to 5-3 overall in 2014. Philip Rivers and the Chargers offense didn't score their second touchdown of the night until the second quarter, and by then, it was too little too late. A few players stood out from San Diego in Week 8. Let's break down the fantasy performances from this matchup.
Keenan Allen, Antonio Gates show up for fantasy owners in Chargers Week 8 loss
The losing effort still produced big numbers from the offense. We break down the fantasy implications.

Philip Rivers: He completed 30-of-41 passes for 252 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Rivers regressed to some old mistakes as the Broncos' pass rush constantly badgered him throughout the night. Both of Rivers' interceptions were poor decisions, the second coming downfield in double coverage on Malcom Floyd. Rivers has extra time to recover before taking on the Miami Dolphins in Week 10.
Branden Oliver: With 36 yards on 13 carries, Oliver could not get anything going on the ground. He caught seven passes for 27 yards, so hopefully you own him in a PPR league. Oliver is still in control of the touches out of the backfield until Ryan Mathews returns. When both running backs are operating together, Oliver's value takes a hit. It might not be a bad idea to sell on the rookie.
Keenan Allen: It IS possible. He can score touchdowns. Allen finished with nine receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown in Week 8. Touchdown regression proves its case once again. Allen caught the most passes in 2014 without scoring prior to this game. He was targeted a team-high 13 times by Rivers. His numbers will fluctuate, but Allen is a WR3 with possible WR2 upside depending on his volume going forward.
Antonio Gates: The veteran caught five passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns. He continues to be the most dangerous weapon Rivers has in the red zone. Gates now has nine touchdowns on the year. He's scored in four straight games. Continue rolling with him as your TE1. Age is not slowing him down.
