Fantasy football projections, Week 8: Rams-Chiefs featuring Austin Davis, Jamaal Charles and Trevor Kelce
We break down the Week 8 matchup between the St. Louis Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs.

St. Louis Rams
While coach Jeff Fisher maintains the team will run a running back by committee system featuring a combination of Zac Stacy, Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason, it appears the rookie Mason has the upper hand on touches. He was the only rusher who showed even the slightest bit of promise in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers and managed to rush for a healthy 4.72 yards per carry and a touchdown last week against the Seattle Seahawks, his first career NFL touchdown. Mason should be busy against the Chiefs in Week 8 and may begin to separate himself from his teammates.
When Mason isn't handed the ball, the Rams' passing game will rest on the arm of Austin Davis, who threw for only 155 yards against the Seahawks last week but did toss a pair of touchdowns, doing enough to upset the Seahawks. Although he's been a popular sleeper pick from week-to-week in fantasy leagues this season, Davis is likely in tough against the Chiefs, especially considering the game is at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kansas City Chiefs
Running back Jamaal Charles admitted to having his bell rung on a spectacular touchdown run in the first half of last week's game against the San Diego Chargers. Although he has yet to eclipse 100 rushing yards in a game this season, Charles is still a central figure in all of the Chiefs' plans on offense and still gets a lot of touches. Sunday's game against the Rams should be more of the same old story, which means Charles' fantasy owners definitely have to keep him in the starting lineup.
When the Chiefs do throw the ball, tight end Travis Kelce should be on the receiving end of Alex Smith's passes throughout the game. Kelce caught all four of his passes in Week 7 and while he managed just 33 yards, is the only reliable safety valve the team has besides its starting running back. Kelce had touchdowns in three straight games prior to the team's bye week and will hope to get back in the end zone against the Rams.
