Fantasy football projections, Week 8: Seahawks-Panthers featuring Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and Cam Newton
We break down the Week 8 matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers.

Seattle Seahawks
Although the Seahawks' attempt at a second-half comeback against the St. Louis Rams last week came up short, fantasy owners of quarterback Russell Wilson probably aren't too worried. He's really come into his own as a fantasy star this year, showing a scrambling ability akin to that of Michael Vick in his prime. Against the Rams, Wilson became the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for over 100 yards while also throwing for over 300 yards in a game. It marked the second time in three games he's rushed for 100 yards or more, making him an intriguing and dynamic fantasy option for the rest of the season.
When Wilson gets tired of scrambling, he'll utilize running back Marshawn Lynch to take on his regular workload. Lynch has been held well under 100 rushing yards in every game since the home opener in Week 1. That said, he does have six touchdowns on the year and is still the engine that keeps the Seahawks running, literally. He'll continue to be counted on against the Panthers and could be in for a big day against a defense that has been uncharacteristically soft this season.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers were out of their game against the Green Bay Packers in Week 8 pretty quickly, thanks to a great first half by quarterback Aaron Rodgers. That didn't leave much room for quarterback Cam Newton to run the ball, which means the Packers' defense had ample opportunity to key in on Newton and his receivers. The good news is the early-season rib injury that seemed to hamper Newton's running ability is now behind him. Fantasy owners can only hope he mirrors Wilson's elusiveness and starts putting up some huge totals.
Aside from Newton, the most important weapon in the Panthers’ passing game is tight end Greg Olsen. Olsen caught all eight of his targets against the Packers last week and notched 105 receiving yards, marking his first 100-yard game of the season. He’ll be busy against the Seahawks in Week 8, as Seattle gives up more fantasy points to tight ends than any other team in the NFL.
