Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has had a rough couple of weeks, and the team has suffered for it. Newton completed just 17 passes against the Green Bay Packers in Week 17, putting up 205 yards and a touchdown as well as an interception. In the team's most recent game against the Seattle Seahawks, Newton completed only 12 passes for 171 yards and a pick.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 9: Cam Newton
Newton has struggled in recent weeks. We break down the fantasy implications.

He had sub-55 completion percentages for both games. Now he's set to face the NFC South rival New Orleans Saints for the division lead, and he doesn't inspire a whole lot of confidence. He's thrown one or fewer touchdown passes in each of his last five games against the Saints. The Saints do have a particularly poor pass defense though, to this point allowing an average of 289.3 passing yards per game, good for second-worst in the league.
Fantasy Impact: That said, Newton hasn’t exactly been able to light up poor pass defenses this season. He’s led Carolina to the league’s No. 17 passing attack with 239.6 passing yards per game, but he hasn’t been great of late. If fantasy owners happen to have another starting quarterback with a more favorable matchup, Newton is worth leaving on the bench. But that scenario is unlikely. Fantasy owners simply can’t count on Newton to produce this week.
