Robert Griffin III will be the starter for Washington in Week 9, provided there are no setbacks in practice, according to Mike Jones of The Washington Post. The news comes from head coach Jay Gruden, who also said there's no reason to sit Griffin until after the bye week if he's healthy to play now, via another Tweet from Jones.
Robert Griffin III will start barring setbacks; fantasy value high
RGIII will start in Week 9 barring any injury setbacks. We break down the fantasy implications.

Griffin was a full participant in practice both days thus far, and should be again on Friday. Provided no problems occur on Friday, he's ready to go against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Griffin has played in just two games so far this season, and he was injured very early on in the second one. Without him, Washington has gone 3-5 on the season, though the passing game is putting up big yardage numbers.
Under Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy, Washington throws for 289.5 passing yards per game on average, which ranks them No. 5 in the league. But neither quarterback is particularly good at finding the end zone, and both have issues with interceptions.
Fantasy Impact: Fantasy owners can expect Griffin to play in this game and on top of that, he’s a huge upgrade over both McCoy and Cousins from a fantasy standpoint. Obviously, fantasy owners should pay attention to Friday’s practice and injury reports, but Griffin is definitely ready to go. The Vikings do have a tough pass defense, but Griffin has solid value regardless.
