Tim Wright caught five passes for 85 yards and a touchdown in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Prior to Sunday night’s game, Wright hadn’t finished a game with more than 20 yards receiving in a New England Patriots uniform.
Tim Wright revives fantasy value in Week 5
The Patriots utilized more two-tight end sets to give Wright an expanded role on Sunday night. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Patriots used more two-tight end sets and involved Wright more in the passing game early. The majority of Tom Brady’s passing stats came from Wright and Rob Gronkowski.
Fantasy impact: It’s easy to get excited about Wright. The Patriots used to be dominant running two-tight end sets with Gronk and Aaron Hernandez. Owners should probably be cautious about Wright given the way the Patriots like to change up gameplans every week, but his production in Week 5 was more than encouraging.
Wright was traded to New England at the end of August, so he’s still getting acclimated to this new offense. Seeing that we’re already five weeks into the season, the waiver wire won’t be as deep going forward. Wright will be one of the top pickups in the coming days. We’ll see if the Patriots follow through with this same usage next week against the Buffalo Bills.
