Josh McCown, Robert Griffin III, DeSean Jackson among fantasy options for Buccaneers-Washington
We break down the Week 11 matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
After the Mike Glennon the experiment went awry, the Buccaneers coaching staff has officially decided to go back to veteran Josh McCown as the team's go-to signal caller. McCown threw two interceptions last week against the Atlanta Falcons, which is expected from a passer of his caliber, but on the plus side he also threw two touchdown passes to go with 301 yards. McCown will be up against a Washington defense that is quarterback friendly, so he could shape up to be an excellent waiver wire plug-in on Sunday.
McCown's top target in the game will likely be wide receiver Mike Evans, who followed up a breakout two-touchdown performance against the Cleveland Browns in Week 9 with an equally impressive 125 receiving yards and touchdown against the Falcons last week. While Evans still has Vincent Jackson on the opposite side of him, it looks like he's the present and future of the Bucs' passing offense. Fantasy owners in 12-team leagues looking for an upside play at the wide receiver position should do what they can to get their hands on Evans.
Washington
Robert Griffin III looked good in his return from a dislocated ankle against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9. Now coming off a bye week, Griffin should be at 100 percent, which means fantasy owners who held onto him or acquired him via the waiver wire may finally get a chance to cash in this week against a weak opponent. Griffin will be facing off against a Buccaneers defense that has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. It's a juicy matchup at just the right time for owners trying to keep playoff hopes alive or clinch a spot this week. RG3 looks poised to run the read option plays he was running before he got hurt, and for a mobile quarterback like him, that can only be good news.
When Griffin is forced to chuck the ball down the field, DeSean Jackson will be the man to watch. He's got one of the best sets of wheels in the NFL and can break away from coverage no matter who is at quarterback, which he's proved many times this season with Kirk Cousins under center. Nobody gives up more fantasy points to wide receivers than the Buccaneers, so Week 11 could mark the first time that Jackson compiles more than 100 yards receiving for three games in a row this season.
